NOTE:- This Resource Pack has been tested with Optifine (preview_OptiFine_1.9.0_HD_U_A4_pre), it's
       not required but does add some nice features like Connected Textures (CTM), Better Skies,
       Random Mobs and custom colours.

       Please note that Optifine is a preview release and is updated all the time so there may be
       some performance issues, please be patient.

       Also this pack has not been tested with any other mod and I cannot offer any help or support
       for other MOD's.

       Due to amount of changes that have occured in this release of Minecraft, this Resource Pack
       is not compatible with older releases of the game, the cutting edge can be fun but don't
       forget there may be some issues and problems.

Here we go; Minecraft 1.9.0 is out and is now the current release in the launcher.

Over the last month or so I've been going through the pack, cleaning up, making lots of consistency
and quality improvements.

I decided to add some custom models without them standing out too much and being too obvious in the
game, things like the Ladder now has some depth, Trapdoors and Doors now have edges too, more to
come in the future.

Some hand held items were rendered using flat 2D sprites but have internal 3D models when placed on
the ground, so why not use the model that already exists in the game, so items like the Brewing
Stand, Cauldron, Comparator, Flower Pot, Hopper, Repeater and Tripwire Hook now all use the 3D
models when held in the hand, on your head, on the ground or in your inventory.

There've been hundreds of changes to the pack to make it compatible with 1.9.0 and lots of tweaks
and additions, see the full changelog below for all the details and go play some Minecraft.

Tweaked all the fonts, also finally added the very hard to edit glyph_sizes.bin, this file is used
by Minecraft for the unicode character widths (kerning).

Note that the glyph_sizes.bin in only loaded when Minecraft loads, so you have to load Minecraft,
select the Resource Pack, exit Minecraft and then reload Minecraft, you only have to do this if
you need to use the Force Unicode Font option, this is a work around to a known Minecraft bug but at
least it works for now.

The unicode_page_00 and unicode_page_01 fonts cover most of the diacritic marks used in the 
language regions like Germanic, Celtic, Romance, Slavic, Baltic, Finno-Ugric, Turkic and others.

Hopefully this will be good news to all the non English speaking players that use the John Smith
Legacy Resource Pack but were previously forced to use the English font only.

When I added the horses I was a little lazy, as the skeleton horse was not used I never made a
texture for it, that's now been rectified, I've not done the Zombie horse yet as that's not in the
vanilla game yet but I'm sure that will change.

Sorted out some rendering issues with transparent pixels.

Adjusted the Coal Ore colour as it looked odd next to the Stone.

Updated the Cauldron  item to better match the in game cauldron.

Changed the Minecart items to better match the in game minecarts.

Made a model for the bed, it now has proper feet.

Much smoother edges on the shadow.

Went through the whole pack and cleaned up lots of odd tranparent pixels on some of the gui, items
and block textures.

lightBlue vs light_blue, MCPatcher vs Optifine.

You have to love the inconsistencies in the game that is Minecraft, while lightBlue is the in game
name, MCPatcher uses light_blue while Optifine uses lightBlue, I follow the MCPatcher standard.

Also the Stained Glass Panes ctm doesn't currently display correctly in MCPatcher or Optifine,
Optifine shows the black and pink chequerboard on the inside surfaces while MCPatcher shows just
the standard panes (not joined).

EDIT: Changed the matchBlocks so it works in both MCPatcher vs Optifine.

The "minecraft:" prefix is optional with MCPatcher but looks like Optifine requires it, I've added
it for the silver glass and is in this release.

Here's a quote from the MCPatcher help files, looks like Optifine requires the full name.

# In 1.7, blocks are referred to by name rather than number.  Numerical IDs are
# supported for older blocks, but newer blocks will be name only.  Stone blocks
# for example can be referred to as
#   1               (not recommended)
#   minecraft:stone (full name)

Fixed a Mojang Cauldron bug that would "cullface" the bottom face, still not fixed in the actual
game though as the bug tracker can be a little slow, please go and upvote the fix.

Also the way Minecraft draws the Cauldron and the Minecraft anti X-Ray block transparency feature,
the Cauldron used to be just the textures listed below displayed for the various sides:-

But now the Cauldron is a model (like the Anvil), which means the legs are now drawn on the inside
too, as the John Smith textures had more slender legs you now get get the white pixels when using
the JSL textures (from the Minecraft anti X-Ray "feature").

The two options are draw the leg textures bigger to suit the default model or make the model file
suit the JSL textures.

I decided to go with the first option as it's a little easier to do but then with some testing found
quite a few issue in the way the textures are drawn on the vanilla Cauldron (stretching and
rotation issues).

After that I then decided to make my own model to better suit the JSL textures (with the slender
legs), with more testing I've also added a custom bottom and inside texture.

Some of the plants and flowers would look a little odd when put in a flower pot, as you can have 
custom textures now I've copied and edited all the flowers to look better when in a flower pot.

Added the older ding ding dingggg level upgrade sound that used to be in the game, I've used it in

Finally fixed the bugged fence gates when used with cobblestone walls, I had to go through all the

Fixed another small issue with the glass CTM.

Add one more random tall grass.

JonnnLeee Double Tall Grass, I will add my version back when random textures work for double height
plants.

Adjusted the End Sky as it was just a resize of the original.

Edited the Rain so it's not as intrusive (halved the drip widths), also added two different colours
(gray and blue) to give the rain more depth.

Edited the Snow as it was a little bit weak and blocky, much more like a snow storm now.

There's an issue with the Glass Pane CTM not working correctly in MCPatcher and Optifine, it's not a
resource pack issue, hopefully both of them will sort the issue out so we can have the panes back
to how they used to be.

The Minecraft Launcher shows the Game Output (like an error log), this showed some errors on loading
the resource pack, I fixed the errors, so this is just a bug fix release.

Added Rabbit egg colours, also sorted out all the MCPatcher output errors.

Readded the CTM for logs as they now work in the latest Preview 2 test release of MCPatcher.
(mcpatcher-1.8-preview2).

Adjusted the Iron Door to better match the new doors.

WIP for the new random textures using blockstates and models, most of the textures are done but I do
have a few of the more complex configs to do.

With the new system you can now have bottom faces for blocks that never had bottom faces before.

Furnace, Dispenser, Dropper and Crafting Table still need to be made.

The old Book Shelf just used the Oak Plank texture for the top and bottom, it now has it's own
custom top and bottom texture.

The bed used the Oak Planks texture for the bottom of the bed, it now has a custom texture.

Minecraft now supports randon texture rotations and it breaks some of the textures due to the way
they tile, I've left TNT and Grass with the randon rotation stuff.

This gave me an idea for random textures in vanilla Minecraft, so using the new models and
blockstates I've got random textures working for Oak Planks, as the new system is not quite final
yet I'll leave it at that for now.

New flame effect when using a furnace or a torch in the same style as the fire layer, the smoke and
flames are now 60% transparent.

Adjusted the potion swirls to make them thinner and more round, arrow firing also made thinner, both
are now 40% tranparent to make them less intrusive.

Water bubble and rain bounce drops also 40% tranparent.

Partially transparent pixels cannot be on the fire layer or torch blocks, pixels with 50% or less
transparency are just removed by Minecraft and pixels with 51% or more transparency are just made
solid, so I cleaned up the textures as they had transparent pixels that didn't show up anyway.

The middle of both sets of fences were nine pixels when it should have been only eight pixel wide.

Redone the all the leaves and also changed the background colours on the opaque leaves to match the
leaf colours.

Changed Steve back to the older texture but still with the new neck and body.

Updated Steve with a new bottom of the body and the neck (Thanks Brolok for pointing this out).

Maintaining the JSTR base pack makes little sense when it's almost the same as the Legacy pack,
it's just more uneeded work, so I've compaired the two packs and these are all the blocks that are
different in the JSTR.

My plan for the JSTR pack is to have the Legacy pack as the base then add the the extra mod
textures.

Added Double Cobblestone CTM to match the Cobblestone Slab.

I noticed that the sky_sunflare2.png was not used so added a properties file for it and renumbered

Cleaned up the Spruce Opaque leaves.

I had no plans on testing this pack in Optifine but decided to do some limited testing anyway as
some people are having some issues.

In Minecraft 1.7 onwards, blocks are referred to by name rather than ID number.

Numerical IDs are supported for older blocks currently, but newer blocks will be name only. 
 
Stone blocks for example can be referred to as:-
   1               (not recommended)
   minecraft:stone (full name)
   stone           (name without prefix)
   
The trouble is Optifine still uses ID's so this is why the custom colours are not working correctly.

I've temporarily change the names back to ID's (names are still in the color.properties files but
are commented out) as at least this is currently compatible with both Optifine and MCPatcher but
with new blocks coming along like Granite, these will not even have an ID number and go by just a
name so this will have to change to the newer system in the end anyway.

Some things like the trip wire hooks and lever do not work in Optifine (they will look default).

As the font can display wrong with Optifine, I've removed the two font kerning properties files.

The sky colour is now the same as the previous versions of the pack, Reeds are also now back to
normal.

Converted the colormap.properties file from block ID's to the new naming system.

The Portal animation didn't loop correctly and would bob 1px up when looping, not that noticeable
but it's all in the detail.

I made a mojang.png logo a back in July but never posted it in the update logs.

After looking at it I thought I could do better so adjusted it a little, it's a twice resolution
resized logo with redrawn text, it's only shown for a few seconds while the game is loading, I
would like to redo the logo but would have to be redrawn using vectors from scratch.

Here are the font details for the Mojang text for anyone interested:-
Arial Black, Size 60, Stroke 1.0, Colour #F6883E (for both letter and stroke).

Sorted out the ramdom CTM podzol not working with block names only ID's.

It would seem to be that the spider_eyes.png file doesn't need an alpha transparent background, when
you just have black it works fine.

I don't use Custom Colors myself (Custom Colors off in MCPatcher) as I like the look of the original
colours in Minecraft, but I though I would investigate the grey grass issue anyway.

Minecraft has been slowly adding features that MCPatcher use to only have, this included custom
colours for biomes, grass, swampfoliage etc...

The color.properties file was a little out of date, this would cause the grass to turn grey when
patched as it was trying to add a tint to the grass, instead it would override the colour
completely, all working now.

These two textures are 日本語襖/障子 (Japanese Fusuma/shōji) style sliding panels.

The glass_silver.png texture is based on one of the alternative John Smith Glow
Stone textures, both glass_pane_top_white and glass_pane_top_silver have edges
that match the panes.

The glass_silver.png is 10% transparent and glass_white.png is 5% transparent, this is so it lets
light through for a great nighttime effect, plus the paper panels would let light through in real
life but would not be see through.
